Within these basic styles, we offer variations to accommodate a range of dock layouts, local nuances, and personal preferences. Roof choices are typically made with equal regard given to personal aesthetic appeal, desired utility, and cost. The most economical roof is the Gable. However, the Hip roof offers slightly better protection from the elements and is often considered more attractive than the more cost competitive Gable. Yet, all three are extremely attractive as the capstone to our Wahoo aluminum dock offerings. You really can’t go wrong with either choice!
The traditional gable roof structure is a cost-efficient choice for those on a budget. The basic design of two sloping sides with a triangle gable at both ends have the advantage of a simple design and build, while still protecting your watercraft and having a small on the water entertainment space.
The extra labor involved in creating a roof that has no vertical ends and is sloped on all sides sets this dock apart from a traditional structure. These docks can be custom ordered to fit your needs and can include swim and entertainment platforms along side boat and or jet ski lifts.
A hip-and-a-half roof consists of two hip roofs, one over the main slip(s) and a smaller one over the wide seating area, resulting in an L-shaped configuration. This design combines all the features of the hip roof with the added flexibility of uncovered and covered seating areas.
